Title : You Can Heal Your Life
Author : Louise L. Hay
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Controversial but effective

Many books talk about the effects of positive thinking but Louise Hay is the first author draw an absolute line between positive thoughts and physical ailments. I've used some of her techniques and by crikey they work! While I was reading this book I thought 'I've got a cold coming on', but I quickly turned the energy round and repeated 'I'm not getting a cold, I'm not getting a cold'. It worked a treat and I actually only had a minor sniffle for a couple of days (on reflection, I should also have repeated 'I'm not getting a minor sniffle' but we live and learn).

The techniques can also assist in correcting existing physical conditions, especially the 'approval of self' approach to how we view ourselves. I had always been aware of an imperfection in the way I walked. Fallen arches and hen toes gave me the gait (to my mind and to various colleagues) of a cowboy with nappy rash. However I channelled my positive energy into the mantra 'I don't approve of my walk and I will appear far more butch'. Suffice to say, I'm now far more lean and mean! Top notch.

Title : Screw It, Let's Do It: Lessons in Life (Quick Reads)
Author : Sir Richard Branson
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : £2,69 bargain

In this day and age what will £2.69 buy. not a lot. This book is a bargain..

Title : Now Habit: A Strategic Program for Overcoming Procrastination and Enjoying Guilt-free Play
Author : Neil A. Fiore
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Helps you understand and overcome a crippling habit

I've read hundreds of self-help books, but this blows almost everything else out of the water. This book helped me to understand the reasons why I procrastinate and showed how this habit leads to worry, loss of confidence and chronic underperformance - even in areas that I had not considered to be linked to procrastination. It's like suffering a mysterious illness and feeling that, at last, there is a proper diagnosis and cure. It even shows how the classic shaming and bullying tactics others use to 'spur us on' only serve to fuel the emotions which block natural performance and success. This is now available on audiobook, read by the author. Play it on the way to work and improve your performance!

Title : The Four Agreements: Practical Guide to Personal Freedom (Toltec Wisdom)
Author : Don Miguel Ruiz
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Profoundly wise

I normally don't enjoy books like this; I find that they tend to peddle a load of easy answers couched in saccharine psycho-babble. This book is different. It's written in short and elegant sentences and it keeps its subject matter as simple as possible. There are no diagrams, no neologisms and no spurious theories. It's very much in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh and Eckhart Tolle.

I got a lot out of this book and I think that the message it contains is a very important one.

Title : Think and Grow Rich!: The Original Version, Restored and Revised
Author : Napoleon Hill
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : What matters is reading on!

I heard of this book in `Rich Dad, Poor Dad' by KIYOSAKI for the first time. I came to realize that this book has been considered as sort of a Bible in terms of getting rich, when I checked the `customer reviews' on the website of Amazon. So I decided to give it a try.

Indeed, this book may be an eye-opener for those who just wish to become rich without thinking twice. However, frankly speaking, the so-called "secrets" as follows in this book are nothing new at all for me and maybe for you as well. Having said that, even you've already known the `secrets', this book will definitely inspire you if you read on page by page. It provides you with an opportunity to converse with yourself, by which you may become a person with deep conviction of getting rich. That's the power of this book.
1) Discipline
2) Dedication/persistence
3) Hardwork/determination
4) Practice practice practice
5) Confidence
6) Ambition along with personality

Again, the `secrets' in this book are simple. What matters to you is the process of reading on.

Title : The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change
Author : Stephen R. Covey
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Well read Bestseller

After the Bible, no other single book has shaped my leadership mentality and disciplines like this one by Covey. I first read it in 1991 and his recommendations brought it all together for me. Success in effective living begins with Private Victory (Be Proactive, Begin with the end in mind, Put first things first) then moves on to Public Victory (Think Win-Win, Seek first to understand...then to be understood, Synergize), and finally back into personal effectiveness by Sharpening the Saw. These concepts are essential to weeding through all the fluff of the information age. This book also contains fantastic practical advice on living out one's priorities ("Exercise integrity at the moment of choice") and teamwork ("Defend those who are absent").

Title : Born to Win: Transactional Analysis with Gestalt Experiments
Author : Muriel James
Rating : 4 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Well it's a classic really

Great summary of games players and how people interact, with clear examples, structured approach etc. Far better than Games People Play or I'm OK you're OK. Necesary reading for everyone who has a family or friends or job. One star docked for age, but it's stood the test of time pretty well.
