Title : Positive Thinking, Positive Action: Essential Steps to Achieve Your Potential (Personal Development)
Author : Douglas Miller
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Positive Thinking
In today's fast moving world it is very easy to become demotivated and thereby negative for those of us who are not natuaral optimists. The trouble with demotivation and negativity is that we bring it home from our workplace and this enhances the our downward spiral.
Doug Miller's book helps to reverse this processby teaching us the benefits of positivity. We all know people who appear postive and with such positivity goes success. Not necessarily always in their work but in their lives. The book draws upon the experiences of self motivated people whose lives have taken off because of their attitude and their postive approach to everything they do.
There are plenty of techniques with the 192 pages to help the most stubborn pessimist. An ideal present for a disaffected offspring going through an identity crisis.

Title : S.U.M.O. (Shut Up, Move On): The Straight-Talking Guide to Creating and Enjoying a Brilliant Life
Author : Paul McGee
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Does what it says on the tin!
How refreshing to read a 'motivational type' book that doesn't pretend that everything in the garden is rosey but one that takes an honest, humourous and practical look at how to get the most from our lives. The author's openess about his own everyday challenges gives the book an easy to identify with feel, whilst also providing some moments to pause and reflect. I have to say what drew to the book in the first place was it's title... superb!( For once I can read a book on the tube without feeling embarrassed by the title). In summary, it's readable, practical, realistic, humourous and inspirational...AND in the midst of the busy lives and hetic schedules that many of us lead, this won't take an age to read. I look forward to the next offering from the SUMO Guy!

Title : Think and Grow Rich
Author : Napoleon Hill
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : One of the best self-improvement books ever
I was originally recommended this book by a colleague who I saw reading it. His copy was well-used and creased to bits - he mentioned that he always kept in in his briefcase for any journies etc when he could pick it up. After starting to read myself, I was amazed at the lessons in the book - it really starts you thinking about what you want in life, and more importantly, how you are actually going to make it happen. A lot of the book is also commonsense, but I guess that is why I found it so appealing and easy to read. I also particularly liked the case-studies, and I found the author very easy to read.
One slight downside for me was the ties towards the end of the book to the authors own religious beliefs. While I have an open mind on these things, the way it was put over wasn't really for me, and I lost a bit of interest in these parts.
In summary though, its a book I have gone back to time and time again when I need a bit of inspiration or focus. Its also great for getting your positive thinking together both inside and outside of work.
