Title : Be Your Own Life Coach: How to Take Control of Your Life and Achieve Your Wildest Dreams
Author : Fiona Harrold
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Life will never be the same again!

Fiona's book is just the inspiration that you need if you are procrastinating over whether or not to take that step into the unknown, - whether it's starting your own business, or going for the promotion you've been working towards.

It is clear from reading this book that Fiona has taken part in motivational courses, such as those held by Tony Robbins. She uses many similar quotes and examples throughout the book. This does not mean that her work is not original however. Fiona's book is a brilliant summary on the subject of self improvement. It is full of enthusiam and stimulus to make the reader think that they can achieve a better life if they are willing to come out of their 'comfort zones.'

This book is the driving force that encouraged me to make several changes in my life and I would definitely recommend it to anyone needing the encouragement or incentive to make that change.

Title : The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change
Author : Stephen R. Covey
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Thought-provoking

This is a thought-provoking book based on clear principles that can guide us in managing our time. There are many wise ideas contained in the pages of this book.

As an example, I learned that efficiency is something that is appropriate with tasks but with people especially family members you can't be efficient and slot people in as you think best. Instead it is about effectiveness. So you have to give family members the time they need.

Another gem is that you can't balance life at times you have to prioritize according to your values. So a mother (or father) who wants to stay home with their kids when they are young, may need to focus on home instead of career until the kids are older. The goal of balance would be inappropriate for that situation. Mr. Covey also makes it clear the importance of following the compass instead of the clock.

This is an excellent book that people need to read because it gives business direction but from a higher perspective that you rarely find in most literature out there. I also recommend the "8th Insight" also by Covey, "Your Erroneous Zones" by Wayne Dyer, "Nexus" by Deborah Morrison Arvind Singh and "Lateral Thinking" by Edward De Bono. All these book offer unique insights.

Title : Never Eat Alone: And Other Secrets to Success, One Relationship at a Time
Author : Keith Ferrazzi
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Connect for the Joy of It All!

Never Eat Alone is a rare, detailed glimpse into how those with no special access can connect to those they want to meet. For many people who are good at connecting, this activity becomes a way of life. It's a profession and a hobby. As such, connecting can become all consuming. Many will find that aspect of Mr. Ferrazzi's story to be unattractive. But I found his candor in this regard to be refreshing.

If you step back from his enthusiasm for connecting, the mental attitudes and processes he describes are just what everyone needs to use who wants to be better connected and accomplish more.

All of us know more than any one of us. If you take two equally talented young people in any field, the one who is better at connecting will live a more successful life than one who tries to go at everything as a lone ranger.

I have known dozens of master connectors. They all do some variation of what Mr. Ferrazzi describes in this book. Here is how I would distill those lessons:

1. Decide who you want to meet to further your objective of accomplishing more.
2. Learn more about the person.
3. Find what you can do to help that person in an area where they care.
4. Develop a strategy to meet briefly face to face.
5. Share what you want to do to help when you meet.
6. Stay in touch with more ways to help.
7. Attend events where other master connectors attend and link into fields which are not naturally yours by becoming acquainted with these master connectors.
8. Study those who are very good at this.

If you keep in mind the sheer pleasure of making a difference as you do this, you'll soon be a superb connector. I recommend undertaking this task on behalf of something you are passionate about such as a charity you support.

One of the best parts of this book is that Mr. Ferrazzi is generous in sharing his mistakes. The world doesn't end for you as a connecting queen or king if you offend a poo-bah. You just pick yourself up and do better next time.

I liked his humility about his limitations in other fields. Peter Drucker would have approved of Mr. Ferrazzi's decision to work on what he has a talent and love for, connecting, rather than try to become more competent at things that are difficult and unpleasant for him . . . like quantitative analysis. The story about how he got his start at Deloitte is worth the price of the book.

Another strength of the book can be found in the excellent description of why people find President Clinton to be so compelling in person.

Skip books about networking and relationship building. Read Never Eat Alone instead!

Title : Sink Reflections
Author : Marla Cilley
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : thankyou flylady.

i found flylady via an internet forum. i quickly reralised that the system was for people just like me. my home was full of things i couldn't bring myself to get rid of. it was cluttered smelly messy and embarrassing. visitors had to phone three days before arriving so that i could tidy and i was always having to buy the children new socks and stuff because we could never find a pair.

one year on and thanks to sink reflections we got rid of four car fulls at least of items we didn't need. i have a wardrobe that contains only clothes that make me feel great and they are sweet smelling and ironed. my laundry baskets are empty and my cupboards are neat and people can drop by without warning and i can make a cup of tea straight away. i can even make dinner without having to clear a space. and guests can even go to the bathroom without me panicking about what they will find.

to say this book changed my life is a bit of a cliche but it is true. kim and aggie can clean your house and so can anthea turner but without the simple baby step routines of flylady you will find that very soon the dishes will pile up and you will be back to chaos in no time.

after years of heartbreaking spring cleans that lasted a week, my home has now been clean and tidy for near on a year. getting rid of unnecisary clutter and washing clothes regularly means that we were able to justify spending a little more on less clothes etc. instead of filling the bedroom with badly cared for primark stuff we have fewer clothes that are of better quality.

i wish that i could share this system with as many people as possible. you really can go from bedrooms with rotting pizza boxes under a two metere pile of clothes, and kitchens where flys manage to lay eggs on the chicken bones you should have thrown away on sunday to a home where you never have to do a deep clean again, where everyone has fresh clothes, clean plates on demand and even ironed sheets. and a sweet smelling toilet that never needs heavy chemicals again.

if i can do this then i am convinced that anyone can.

flylady certainly knows what she is talking about so you wont feel like you are being preached at from someone who was born organised. in the book she talks of a room where she had to go in everyday and put just two things away each visit because it was so bad.
you als don't have to launch into a cleaning frenzy as she starts with small and simple easy to follow tips that turn into automatic routines.

you don't have to buy this book because the flylady.net website gives you everything for free. under the section titled flying lessons. but it is beneficial to have it down in book form. my copy has been opened so many times that it's starting to look a bit worn.

if you are living in shame at the state of your house and you don't know where to start, it's not because you are lazy it's just that you don't know how. please buy this book. you really will be amazed.
